Have you recently replaced the windshield of your car? If yes, then there are some important things you should consider before driving your car back home. Windshield replacement is a sensitive process and needs utmost care and precision. Once the process concludes, you too need to follow some rules to ensure the safety of the glass.

Here’s a blog mentioning a few don’ts that you need to follow after a windshield replacement. Take a look!

“Don’ts” to Follow After Windshield Replacement

Follow these ways to protect the new glass:

  1. Be patient while you drive your car

The adhesive used to fix the new windshield is a strong chemical and needs at least an hour after installation to dry fully. Thus, do not haste to drive your car back home. Even if you do, be sure to drive slowly. The best is to leave your car at the service station until the adhesive has dried completely.

  1. Keep the car clean

The seal takes time to dry and set completely. Thus, if you are taking your car home, make sure that nothing comes in direct contact with the new glass or the seal. Also, make sure that the dashboard is clear of all objects.

  1. Leave one window open

If you have taken your car back home, be sure to provide enough ventilation to the new seal. The seal can suffer from any reaction due to a lack of air. Hence, leave a window slightly open when you park the car. This needs to be done at least for the first 24 hours after the installation.

  1. Do not remove the retention tapes

The new windshield might have retention tapes still on while you take your car back home. These tapes are pasted to ensure proper fixing of the glass. Hus, do not remove these tapes until days after the installation.

Follow these steps and ensure proper installation of the new windshield. In case of any doubts or queries, visit Imperium Auto Glass in Houston, Texas. You can also call our experts for more advice.
